Posted Under: Theft by Jason P.B. Aguon ( 202.128.16.57 )

SYNOPSIS:

Recently, the Guam Power Authority (G.P.A.) has reported multiple thefts of power lines which have been occurring in isolated areas throughout the island.  Witnesses have reported that the suspects appear to be construction workers who utilize ladders and heavy equipment to cut down the power lines.  And in some instances, the suspects have left live power lines dangling from the pole creating a very hazardous or fatal situation to the public.  Although G.P.A. has the ultimate responsibility for performing the work on power lines, there are several private contractors who are also authorized to do so as well.  However, the public should note down as much information about the company performing the work in the event there is a power failure as a result of theft.

The Guam Power Authority would like to remind the public that if they should encounter any dangling power lines – Do Not Touch It, and immediately call the Guam Power Authority at 475-1472, 3, or 4.

If you have any information about this crime, or any crime, please call the Guam Crime Stoppers at 477-HELP (4357) or * HELP on your Guam Cell Phone.
