CRIME OF THE WEEK (05/28/01 to 06/03/01)

SYNOPSIS:

November 15, 1999, a bomb threat was received at the U.S. District Clerk's Office located in the Pacific News Building in Hagatna, Guam. The caller reported that a bomb was in the building. The caller told the person who received the call that it was that person's responsibility to ensure the safety of the other tenants.

Shortly afterwards, an explosive device was detonated in the upper level of the buidling's attached parking garage. Also on this date, two bomb threats were received at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development also known as HUD, in Hagatna, Guam. The caller reported that bomb was in the building warning the person who received the call the lives of the other tenants were in jeopardy. The buidling was evacuated and tenants of the buidling re-entered it after the Guam Fire Department declared the building safe.

Shortly afterwards, the same caller telephoned the U.S. HUD office and said that a future incident would be more serious.

SYNOPSIS:

Thursday, May 17, 2001 it was reported to the Guam Police Department that an envelope containing $3,000.00 dollars was stolen from a room in the administrative office of F.B. Leon Guerrero School. The schools band raised the money.

SYNOPSIS:

Friday evening, May 11, 2001 a female reported to the Guam Police Department that while she was attempting to gain entrance to her car in the parking lot of the Oriental Kitchen Mangilao, an unknown male individual grabbed her purse causing her to fall to the ground. The individual ran off with the purse towards route 10 UOG road.

CRIME OF THE WEEK (05/07/01 to 05/13/01)

SYNOPSIS:

During the past few months we have seen several of our schools being broken into, items stolen and classrooms vandalized. As reported, Untalan Middle School in Barrigada even had a couple classrooms set on fire. We need to take an active roll in protecting our schools. Our children will be our leaders of tomorrow and they will lead by our example.

SYNOPSIS:

Monday April 23, 2001 a 93 year old man was at the Sinajana Senior Citizens Center, when someone approached him from behind and knocked him to the ground. The suspect then took his wallet and ran off with about $300.00 dollars in cash in an unkown direction.
